There possibly isn't an album in history that is as genre defining as NIRVANA's 'Nevermind.' Released in 1991, it single-handedly was responsible for the birth of what became to be known as grunge and has gone on to sell over 8 million copies in the US alone.
'Nevermind' was the second album from the Seattle trio and the first on the DGC label (it's predecessor 'Bleach' was released on the Sub Pop label). It was produced by Butch Vig (also the drummer for the band Garbage) and mixed by Andy Wallace.
Nirvana's surviving members Krist Novoselic (bass) and Dave Grohl (drums) talk candidly about their past, the recording of Nevermind and about Kurt Cobain and the legacy that he has left behind. Also featured are exclusive interviews with the likes of Garry Gersh (A&R DGC Records), Butch Vig, Jonathan Ponneman and Nils Bernstein (Sub Pop Records), Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Jack Endino, and many more.

Rating:  - It's a classic alright
I don't think there is anyone who was alive in 1991 who didn't here Smells Like Teen Spirit and get automatically drawn into it but the entire album is awesome. There aren't many CD's that you can put in and just let it play through but this is definitely one of those. The DVD us great on it's own because of the interviews, still shots and of course the making of the album itself. This dvd is a great buy, not only does it take you through the making of the album NEVERMIND, but also through the history of nirvana and how it came to be. From recording the huge hit "smells like teen spirit" to recording the masterpiece "polly", this dvd has it all.

this DVD has it all. all the major players are in place, Nirvana a&r reps, road crew, people that took pictures of them, surviving band members and butch vig.
basicly if you are a huge fan of nevermind and want the inside scoop on how it was recorded then get this DVD. if you think this is a CD with music and videos then PLEASE go else where!

Without Cobain to interview afresh for this release the producers have had to cobble together old interview footage. And this is part of the tragedy of the situation because I for one would love to be able to hear what a grown up and more mature Cobain would of said about the album he is most famous for. Others may champion earlier stuff like Bleach but it's Nevermind that for the average punter is this band, and in fact the entire grunge movements calling card.

BE CAREFUL! When you first look at this DVD you think you are buying a great music DVD. This is a boring "DOCUMENTARY". Do NOT expect to find any video listed in the DVD. I really do NOT recommend it.
