I've only watched a few of these so far and, by today's standards, they're somewhat "smalzy". But maybe we need more of that in today's world. I like the innocence and respect portrayed in these 30's and 40's movies. They're entertaining in a clean and decent way. Voice quality on some leaves a little to be desired, but headphones help.

I was disappointed by this collection. Many of the movies were in such poor condition that it was not possible to view them. I realize that they are all very old movies, but still ....

I gave this to a friend for Christmas and they were delighted. She was always asking me to find old classic musicals at the video store but I had no luck. This is all she ever needs in one set.

This set is just wonderful. It's not the typical "magnificent movie musicals" box set that has come out so many times. It has so many invaluable short movies, many of the All-African-American casts, that are historic jewels that would never see the light of day again on any multinational DVD release! I'd love another set of 50 equally long-lost musicals just like this set, please!!!

I'm still getting through all 50 movies. So far, not bad.
PROS: Some of the movie quality is a bit dark. But it is black and white and I guess authentic to the movie. This is fine viewing if you aren't expecting HD. This is definitely for "classic movie buffs" who enjoy the black & white quality of movies. The audio is stays true to the time of the movie. No surround sound here.
