Two for the Money starts with punchy dialogue and razzle-dazzle acting, but midway it starts to founder; the characters never quite feel real, the plot grows labored and implausible, and the basic themes--gambling, addiction--turn vague and fuzzy. The actors have charisma to burn, but they can't overcome an unfocused script. Rating: - PACINO PLAYS IT AGAIN--SAME
Take equal parts WALL STREET and THE RECRUIT,sprinkle with DEVIL'S ADVOCATE and you pretty much have this movie. Entertaining? Sure. Worth a DVD rental or the $3.99 buy price I got it for? Absolutely. But--Pacino has been playing the same evil daddy role for ten years prior to the release date of this movie. Devil's Advocate, Recruit, etc. It's more like a third rate stand up impersonator doing his Pacino bit. Armand Assante as the high roller living in Puerto Rico? See him in Gotti, see him ... Pacino and McConaughey are very good in this tale about men who predict the outcome of sports events and the morons who believe someone can do this! If you don't like gambling & profanity don't watch this movie! The DVD transfer is very good.
Rating:  - Terrible!! Too much profanity and bad language!
It was painful we had to stop watching this because of the constant profanity. My husband and I started getting a headache and could not enjoy the movie. We don't gamble and we don't use bad language so this was too much for us. I can't believe Al Pacino has such a dirty mouth. Don't waste your time and money!

It's based on a true story. I know the guy it's based on and Matthew McConaughey does a great job portraying him!

Rating: - Great to Learn about Yuppies
I should have known this movie would be terrible because it stars Matthew McConaughey. McConaughey plays one thing well - the smarmy yuppie. Having grown up in a working class Manhattan family, I know the type well. He does an excellent job at this one role for which he is type cast again and again. This film is no exception. The worst thing about this movie is that even though I only watched about 2/3, I had to use grease-cutting cleaner to clean my tv screen free of all the slime.
