I just want to say that I am glad that I ordered this DVD from Amazon. It is a very good and informative movie. I was getting ready to watch a DVD one night and this movie was one of the preview movies before my movie started. I don't even remember which movie it was on now. Proud was ok. I was expecting the movie to give more indepth account of the crew aboard the USS Mason.

I served in the U.S. Navy during the Korea war. I know what shipboard life is like. The men on the Mason had it about as rough as it gets. One of the Navy's smallest ships on the roughest seas. They called this an experiment for the Navy. I don't know if the Navy claims to have proven their point, but those black sailors sure proved theirs. This is an amazing story of several young African American men who help gain recognition to the older African American men who served on a Naval vessel who did remarkable voyages to help their country.

This is one of the best movies about World War 2 I have seen. It is a film that makes me very Proud to be a part of this great country. It is the story of a group of African Americans who fought for their country and fought against prejudice in the land of immigrants.
