Rating: - In need of a new transfer
Everyone knows this is a greast story, but this film desperately needs an anamorphic transfer. The DVD looked good on my 27" CRT television. It looks horrible on my new 42" Sharp Aquos LCD HD television. The problem is not the television. Seabiscuit looks great. The problem is the poor video transfer. MGM, get with it and do a proper anamorphic transfer. At the same time, clean up all the dirt and speckles. You can do better.
Rating: - Great Movie; Crappy Master
This is one of the great boy and his [fill in the blank] movies, but deserves a serious re-mastering. It needs to be updated to accommodate 16:9 screens and surround sound. And the transfer itself isn't pristine; there are color-timing issues and quite a few dust bombs.
Rating: - This movie is the best
One of my favorite movies! Shipping was exceptional and all in great shape when I received them.
Rating: - Honestly...
It's the best film ever made. The cinematography, setting, actors, story...all perfect. I've looked for years to see anything else Kelly Reno has starred in, and failed -- in this film, he is the quintessential quiet boy hero, in a coming-of-age film that everyone can relate to. I can't even see an advertisement for this film without feeling a tug at the old heartstrings. It's intrigue and excitement throughout!
Rating: - Every kid should read it
I teach English in Hong Kong. This past summer I ordered this book and the DVD. Now I will share the book with my students. They dont know it here.
Reading the book and watching the DVD brought back many happy memories of growing up in the States. The book and DVD are both classics.
